Does my horse have to do quarantine?

Horses travelling to Europe and other various parts of the world do not have to go into quarantine. However, on other occasions quarantine must be done in the country of departure or country of arrival, in some cases both.

Horses travelling to the USA, for example, must do a 3 day quarantine on arrival, after the initial 3 day quarantine geldings are free to travel to their final destination. The rules for mares and stallions differ to geldings, once they have completed the 3 day quarantine they are transported to a CEM quarantine facility to undergo a further period of quarantine and testing.
